At Minnehaha Academy we are dedicated to protecting your privacy and handling your information in a secure and confidential manner.

Protecting your information is important to us, and we want you to know that we respect your privacy. Personal information you share with us in the course of your contact with us is kept confidential. Unless we indicate otherwise, the term “information” in this Privacy Policy means information that specifically identifies you as a student, alumni, donor, parent, employee, or vendor.

 

Information Collection and Use

Minnehaha Academy is the sole owner of the information collected by Minnehaha Academy, including information collected on our website. We will not sell or rent this information to any other individual, business, or organization. Minnehaha collects information from our users by a variety of methods, such as by phone calls, donations, pledges, forms submitted via the web, or mailed communications. In no instance will Minnehaha Academy give or sell any information that we have gathered from any of our constituents. Minnehaha Academy, on occasion, may provide private information to third parties for school-related purposes. Minnehaha Academy works only with reputable third parties for such purposes. Any private information is handled in a secure manner and is never sold, rented, or otherwise shared for purposes other than those of Minnehaha Academy.

 

Academic Information

Minnehaha Academy seeks to be a responsible steward of the student information entrusted to its care. A guiding principle is that student information will be used only by those with a legitimate interest, on a need-to-know basis, for the purpose of better teaching and working with a student.

 

Giving

We request information from the donor on our giving forms. Donors must provide contact information (name and address) and, if applicable, financial information (credit card number, expiration date). This information is used to process and receipt gifts made to Minnehaha Academy, as well as to send pledge confirmations and other information. If we have questions or concerns regarding a gift, this contact information is used to contact the donor.

 

Internal Network

Users of the Minnehaha Academy network on campus are required to authenticate via our secure proxy server — using their Minnehaha Academy email account and password or the Guest network via a given password. All authentication and subsequent connections to the Minnehaha Academy network is logged, including a device’s IP and MAC addresses. This logged information is not accessible by anyone except privileged members of the Minnehaha Academy technology department. Minnehaha Academy utilizes a physical firewall to protect our network and filter content and also uses software and device management tools to filter content based on device and grade level.

 

Links & Apps

Our website contains links to other sites. Minnehaha Academy also permits the use of and enables the downloading of third-party software applications. Please be aware that Minnehaha Academy is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites or third-party applications. We encourage our users to be diligent stewards of their personal information by reading the privacy statements of each and every website and application that collects personally identifiable information.

 

Newsletters

Parents or guardians may receive school-related newsletters based on the email address on file with the school. Email addresses are available to those school officials with a legitimate educational interest and are used for official business and notifications to keep parents informed. The use of parent email addresses is limited to communication from within the Minnehaha Academy community. Parents are encouraged to keep their contact information up-to-date with our Skyward. Security: Protecting your Information

To keep your (and our) information strictly confidential, we protect it with physical and electronic safeguards, and we make sure that we abide by applicable federal security standards. We regularly review our processes and keep abreast of new technology. We do not allow anyone or any company to have access to information unless we authorize or designate him or her to do so. All of our users’ information is restricted on a need-to-know basis in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, contacting a parent) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The servers that store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Employees using laptop computers are advised to store no sensitive data on laptop computers or other portable storage devices. Student grades and progress reports are stored on centralized systems inside the Minnehaha Academy physical and electronic network. In addition, we require all outside businesses or organizations that we work with in any area of our organization, including marketing and data processing, to maintain the confidentiality of your information in accordance with this privacy policy and to comply with all applicable laws. However, we may report your information to government regulators, law enforcement agencies, as required by law in connection with a fraud investigation or in response to a subpoena or legal process.

Our systems are secured in the following ways to protect the collection and storing of personal and financially related information:

  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology to transmit and store confidential information.

  • Firewall protection, physical and electronic, and secure access protection to prevent unauthorized access to our data.

If we change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our website so our constituents are always aware of what information is collected and how we use it. We will use information in accordance with the current privacy policy.
