Extended Day

Our preschool before and after school care program is an extension of the school day, carefully following the same licensure requirements to ensure your child’s safety. The program is available for any student enrolled in Minnehaha's 3- or 4-year-old preschool program.

AM Program: 

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. (each school day)

Where: Room 106

PM Program:

When: 3:10-4:30 p.m. (each school day)

Where: Students will be picked up from their classroom by the extended day teacher.

Schedule:

3:10 - Extended Day begins.

3:30 - Choice time and outside play (above 0°). Inclement weather location: gym

4:30 - Parent pick up

Fun N Friends is after-school care that is designed especially for children in Minnehaha Academy’s Lower School. Children have fun in a safe, supervised environment after school.  

Fun N Friends – Afternoon Program

Grades: K–5
When: 3:10-6:00 p.m. (each school day)**
What: Students from kindergarten to fifth grade are provided with safe, supervised activities after school – including snacks, free play, choice time, or homework help depending on their age. Students go from their classroom to the cafeteria and check in with Fun N Friends staff. At the end of the day children must be signed out by their caregiver. Signage at the main entrance of the building will indicate the current locations of each class at pick up time. See the schedule below for details.

Afternoon Schedule

• 3:10 p.m. Students are released from their classrooms. Kindergarten students are picked up and escorted to the cafeteria.
• 3:10-3:30 p.m. Snack
• 3:30-4:45 p.m. Outside play (above 0 degrees). Inclement weather location: Gym
• 4:45-6:00 p.m. Choice time, optional homework time for older grades

**All students who remain at school after to 3:15 p.m. must be enrolled in our PM Extended Day Program. Fees will be applied.

Grades: 6-8
When: 3:10-6:00 p.m. (each school day)

What: Yellow Lounge is our after school program for grades 6-8, providing a flexible, but supervised option between school and pick up or sports. Students will have time to work on homework, socialize, and participate in group activities. 

At 3:30 p.m. students who are not in a supervised activity, sport, or with a teacher will need to be checked into the Yellow Lounge. Students are not allowed to be in hallways, gyms, or on the playground after school without being checked into Yellow Lounge.

Minnehaha Academy has special programming arranged for students grades PreK-8 on days when school is not in session. Release Days provide structured, age-appropriate activities for children in a fun and relaxed environment surrounded by their friends.

Each Release Day is different. The Extended Day Director will send home instructions via  Parent Square the week of each Release Day. Typical activities include a morning meeting with ice breakers, group activities and games, outside play, crafts, free time, science experiments, and sometimes even baking! 

Students bring their own lunch. MA provides one snack in the afternoon.

Students must be registered via CampBrain.

Release Day Calendar

Enrichment courses are offered at various times throughout the school year for Kindergarten to Grade 8. Classes provide unique, challenging, and fun opportunities for students to engage in. 

Classes will include STEM, STEAM, Art, Music, Dance, Pom, Chess, Spanish, French, Minecraft, Girls on the Run, Theater, Chess and Golf.
