New Students Back to School

All Grades

• Skyward: First, complete the New Student Enrollment Form sent to you from the Admission Department. Then, create a Skyward account. Once you are registered with Skyward, complete any outstanding forms. 
• ParentSquare: You will receive your Parent Square account registration via email. Follow the prompts to activate your Parent Square account. Each parent or guardian should have a Parent Square account with the same email as Skyward, do not combine your accounts. Parent Square is how you'll get updates from your child's teacher, the principal, and other key messages and event information. It is also a way that you can message other parents, see calendar events, sign up for field trips and volunteer opportunities as they arrive.
• School Calendar: Review the school calendar in Parent Square or online and mark important dates.

Middle School

• Complete the Middle School Elective Form sent from the Admission Department.
• Summer Assignments: Review summer assignments for your child's classes.
• Athletics: Information about summer practice is available by calling the Athletics Department at (612) 729-8321. Information about how to join Minnehaha Athletics is available on our Athletics: Getting Started webpage. 

Upper School

• Summer Assignments: Review summer assignments for your child's classes.
• Athletics: Information about summer practice is available by calling the Athletics Department at (612) 729-8321. Information about how to join Minnehaha Athletics is available on our Athletics: Getting Started webpage. 

NOTE: The dates, times, and locations for all events listed below will be posted in the Parent Square calendar.

All Grades

• Review the July list in the previous tab to ensure you have completed the necessary items on that list.

• School Supplies: Gather your child's school supplies. See  our school supply lists for details.
• Set up a Taher School lunch account if your child will be eating school lunch (K-12) or purchasing milk (preschool).
• First Day of School: The first day of school is exciting and we can't wait to welcome you!

Lower School

• Back-to-School Packet : You will receive a packet of back-to-school materials in the mail. This packet will have key information about the school year, your child's teacher, the Tech Event, Orientation Day, Back-to-School Night, teacher conferences, and school photos.

• Attend Orientation Day: Orientation Day is a time for your child to meet their teacher, bring in school supplies, and take their school photo. You will schedule a 20-minute time slot with your child's teacher for them to meet, do a simple reading assessment (grade k-5), and get comfortable with their classroom! Preschool children will meet with their teacher for 30 minutes. Specialty school supplies sold through Minnehaha and Redhawk spirit wear will be available to purchase. This is also the day to have your child's school photo taken.
• Extended Day Registration (Lower and Middle School only)

Middle School

• Back-to-School Packet: You will receive a packet of back-to-school materials in the mail. This packet will have key information about the school year, as well as your advisor for the year. It will also provide information about Orientation Day, Back-to-School Night, teacher conferences, school photos, and other relevant information related to transportation, food services, and a school supply list.

• Attend Tech Event: Receive your iPad and learn how to navigate it's features. 
• Attend Orientation Day: Orientation Day is a time for your child to meet their advisor, bring in school supplies, find their locker, walk their schedule, and take their school photo. You will schedule a 30-minute time slot for you and your child to meet their advisor and receive their schedule. Specialty school supplies sold through Minnehaha and Redhawk spirit wear will be available to purchase.
• Extended Day Registration (Lower and Middle School only)

Upper School

• Back-to-School Information: A Parent Square post will be sent by the Upper School Principal and will provide details about the first day schedule, orientation day, and class meetings. Your child's schedule can be found on Schoology and will posted prior to the start of school.
• Attend Tech Event: Receive your iPad and learn how to navigate it's features. 
• Attend Class Meetings: All 10th-12th students must participate in the class meeting, which lasts approximately an hour during the morning. Details will be sent in the Principal's Parent Square message. Students will hear an overview of the upcoming school year, expectations, and will get a chance to spend time with friends.
• Attend Ninth Grade Orientation Day: All ninth graders must attend Orientation Day. Orientation Day is a time for all ninth graders to meet their advisor, receive their printed schedule, familiarize themselves with the building, and have with their advisor group!
• Attend New 10th-12th Grade Student Orientation Session: All new 10-12th grade students must attend the Orientation Session. During this time students will meet their advisor, receive their printed schedule, meet other new students, and get a chance to become familiar with the Upper School building.
• Review Senior Portrait and Tribute Information (Seniors only)

NOTE: The number one way to receive information about Minnehaha events and activities is through Parent Square.
