Safe Entry

Parents must certify that their child(ren) is well before leaving for school. Daily health self-checks must be reported each morning on Parent Square.

Staggered arrival times will help avoid crowds at the entry doors. Registration for a specific time is available following the link in the Action Items for Parents section. Families who drive to school will be asked to commit to one of the following arrival times:

  • 8:15am
  • 8:25am
  • 8:35am

School transportation will arrive between 8:15–8:35am. The school day will begin at 8:40am.

Entry Point

We will have one main entry point into the school for Middle School students: The door just east of the main entrance that goes into the Chapel hallway that has stairs going up to the Middle School. We will soon identify where students will go if they arrive early and need to wait before heading to each day’s 8:40am Advisory. Students will go to advisory first thing in the morning.

Lunch and Snacks

Lunch will be eaten as a group in the classroom. A teacher, a member of the staff or administrative team, or building aide will eat with each group each day. Our food service provider, Taher, will offer a lunch each day, delivered to the classroom at lunchtime. All lunches brought from home must be nut-free, and we will determine later if microwaves will be accessible.

Both unstructured play and fresh air are critical for children. As such, we will try to find spaces daily for students to have recess, including a gym, the playground, and/or another space, weather permitting. We will continue to refine our plans, but we are building in recess time each day with lunch and periods 5 or 6.

Students will wash their hands prior to going outside or using any location for recess, and again upon returning to the middle school.

Bathroom Breaks

Individual students who need to go to the bathroom may go independently between classes or with approval from a teacher. S/he will wear a mask and use appropriate social distancing practices.

Because Lower School cohorts will be meeting in the library, Middle School students will not be able to visit the library as normal, including before or after school.  However, we will have a checkout system in place, and library staff will deliver books to classrooms and develop a similar process for returning books. There will also be a curbside pickup process for our Distance Learning students who want to check out books.

Safe Dismissal

There will be staggered pick-up times. Families will be asked to commit to one of the following dismissal times:

  • 3:10pm
  • 3:20pm
  • 3:30pm

Middle School students using school transportation will be dismissed at 3:10pm. Middle school students will be able to exit and meet their parents at their respective time. Again, we will evaluate our procedure when school starts and make any necessary changes.

The east front entrance near the Chapel hallway where students enter the building will be the primary exit. We will evaluate traffic during dismissal time and see if another exit (e.g., main entrance) can be added.

Extended Day Programming

We understand that many families rely on before and after school care for their children. We will provide care for children only if they are pre-registered. No drop-in service will be available for this school year. ParentSquare health verification is required prior to leaving home.

Afternoon care will be available in the Yellow Lounge from 3:15pm to 6:00pm for Middle School students who are pre-registered.  There is a limited number of spots each day, and walk-ins are not accepted.

Our Extended Day Director will maintain a safe environment by utilizing the following strategies:

  • Social distancing will be maintained between groups of students.
  • Masks and/or shields will be worn, same as during the instructional day.
  • We will have outdoor play time as much as possible.
  • Individually packaged or portioned snacks and/or breakfast items will be available.

In order to ensure that we’re able to maintain social distancing, we may need to limit the number of spaces available in order to ensure that we can maintain a safe environment. Registration is now open.
