The first day of school has been moved to Monday, August 31.
Minnehaha Academy is implementing a revised plan for our return back to campus. Check this website frequently for updated information.
We are offering our students in-person learning in small cohorts. Because of our ability to maximize our facility and faculty, we can accomplish small class sizes with an in-person model; class sizes that are more traditionally achieved in a hybrid model.
Middle School will move to a new semester schedule for the next school year. This will eliminate daily half-day rotations and aligns well to both in-school and distance learning; promote social distancing with small class sizes; provide students with eights courses; and include daily study sessions that allow students to complete homework, meet with teachers, meet with groups, or receive academic support. Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
Families will stagger their drop-off times. To alleviate congestion at our main entrance, Middle School students will enter the east front entrance near the chapel and go up the stairs to the Middle School. We will designate a part of the building for students who arrive earlier and need a place to gather. Learn all about our school procedures →
- Lunch will be eaten as a group in classrooms.
- Our food service provider, Taher, will offer a lunch each day or students may bring their own lunch from home.
Corporate worship remains essential to our identity and we’ll have weekly chapel for the Middle School. In order to adhere to safety guidelines and maximize classroom space, the Middle School will worship virtually gathered in small groups. Classroom and advisory time will be dedicated to discussing and deepening our chapel experience at every level. There will be no large group, corporate singing in Chapel this year.
Social and emotional connections are more important than ever, and fostering these connections are what makes Minnehaha’s caring community so distinctive. Through the advisory program at the Middle School students connect with one another, and with an adult, to receive guidance and support in academic, spiritual, and personal growth. Advisory groups meet daily at the Middle School. Students may also meet one-on-one or in groups with the Middle School counselor.
The Middle School performing groups are being rearranged to allow for smaller sections. We are still gathering information and working out the details of how to safely produce concerts, plays, and other performances, but know that our students will be able to showcase their wonderful musical and acting talents either in person with limited audiences or pre-recorded and sent out in a YouTube link as we were able to do in the spring semester.
After school care is available for children who are preregistered. No drop-in service will be available for this school year. After school care is available from 3:10-6:00 pm on a space-available basis. Social distancing measures will apply. Outdoor activities will be prioritized. Registration for Extended Day will open August 5.
Transportation will be available in Minneapolis and the suburbs in traditional school buses at 50% capacity or less. (Due to social distancing guidelines, no van service will be available.) Riders will be required to wear masks and follow hand sanitizing protocols. Registration for transportation will be available in Skyward.
