Lacrosse (Boys)

Two high school boys competing for the ball in a lacrosse game

Overview

Boys' Lacrosse is a fantastic spring sport option. An exhilarating sport, lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action. The game is played with a stick (the crosse), which must be mastered by the player to pass, scoop, cradle, and shoot the ball.

Our lacrosse program is welcoming, growth-focused, and built on connection and accountability. Prior experience is not required—every athlete who is willing to commit, learn, and support their teammates has a place and an opportunity to contribute.

Minnehaha Lacrosse Team Culture

Our program is built on unity, accountability, and genuine connection. As a large co-op, we are intentional about creating a family atmosphere where every player feels welcomed, supported, and valued regardless of experience level. We compete hard and hold high standards, but we measure our culture by how we treat one another, how we show up daily, and how we grow together as a team.

Growing as a Lacrosse Player

Our JV players focus on skill development, teamwork, and love of the game. As they progress, athletes take on greater responsibility, refine their understanding of systems and strategy, and learn to lead others. By the time they reach varsity, they are not only stronger players, but more accountable teammates and confident young leaders.

Coaching Emphasis

We emphasize unity, character, and shared growth. As a large co-op, we intentionally build a culture rooted in respect, connection, and celebrating one another’s success. Whether a player is experienced or brand new, everyone is welcomed, valued, and challenged to contribute. We coach the X’s and O’s with purpose, but just as importantly, we compete selflessly and grow together as one team.

Competition Level

Our program is competitive, but is also inclusive and developmental. All experience levels are welcome, but we do expect players to show up consistently, prepare with intention, and compete at their best.

At the varsity level, we aim to compete for the IMAC championship and advance as far as possible. At the JV level, the focus is on growth and building the skills and confidence needed to contribute at the varsity level.

Lacrosse & Faith Integration

Faith shows up in the way we emphasize gratitude, humility, service, and care for one another. We create intentional moments for reflection before and after competition, encourage players to compete with integrity, and hold one another accountable to standards that reflect respect and selflessness. Our culture reinforces the idea that athletics is about something bigger than individual success — it’s about character, community, and purpose.

Lacrosse Team Traditions

Some seasons include travel days to compete in places like Moorhead or Duluth, which provide valuable team bonding time. Team captains also organize gatherings and social events throughout the season to strengthen connection and community.

*The lacrosse team is a co-operative of student-athletes from Minnehaha Academy, St. Paul Academy and Summit School, South St. Paul, DeLaSalle, Concordia Academy, St. Croix Lutheran, and St. Agnes.
