Golf (Girls)

Overview
We are welcoming to all athletes interested in learning and playing golf. As a practice, we do not send golfers into competition until we are confident they will be comfortable playing with opponents. New golfers might not always play in matches because of this, but are valuable members of the team who we want to see working and improving at practices.
Minnehaha Golf Team Culture
In recent years Minnehaha’s Girls Golf Team has largely consisted of players new to the sport. Consequently, we welcome all interested athletes - even if they’ve never swung a club before. Our focus is on learning the fundamentals of the sport, growing in our skill, and cultivating strong team spirit.
Growing as a Golfer
Athletes progress in skill, knowledge, and confidence from season to season as they gain experience from practices and matches.
Coaching Emphasis
We practice four days a week during the season, with a focus on developing fundamentals of the sport. Special emphasis is placed on etiquette, basic skills, and developing a lifelong love for the sport.
Competition Level
We have 6-8 varsity matches each spring season competing against conference rivals. If our team and our opponent have sufficient players, we will add JV competitors to these matches.
Golf & Faith Integration
Our faith shows in our kindness to others and positive sportsmanship toward our teammates and competitors no matter the outcome of any match. We stress integrity, positivity, and encouragement of others from our golfers.
Golf Team Traditions
Sometimes our captains have hosted independent get-togethers during the season. We also have an end-of-season banquet where we celebrate our accomplishments, award letters, and enjoy fellowship.
