Elementary girls play together on a tire swing.

It’s impossible to describe, but when you and your family walk into Minnehaha Academy, you’ll feel it. Students and parents say that our culture of kindness and care is what makes us unique.

As a Minnehaha student, your child will be surrounded by adults that care about them as an individual, not just another student in their class. This supportive environment will help him or her feel safe to experiment, learn, fail, and succeed - growing character along the way. Your child will be surrounded by students who love to learn and teachers who are there to encourage them.

Uniquely Minnehaha: Learning Transformed

The Minnehaha experience is transformative. From academics to co-curriculars, students are invited into learning that embraces the head, heart, and hands. During their time at Minnehaha, students grow in wisdom and stature and favor with God and others.

Each Minnehaha student will be able to say:

  • I am learning to name my talents and gifts. I have a voice and a choice in what I pursue.
  • I am learning things that matter and see how my talents can help my community.
  • What I am learning now builds on what I learned in earlier grades.
  • I have the skills I need. I am valuable. What I do matters.

Explore to Restore

Deep Hope: Students in my class will explore the design and wonder of God's creation, and grow as caretakers in restoring this beautiful yet broken world.

When the Mississippi River is just outside of your science classroom, you don't stay inside - you wade in! Ms. Cripe leads her biology students to the banks of the river where they collect and test samples of the river, analyzing which chemicals are present in the water. She invites them to take in the unique beauty of the river gorge, learn about threats to the river, and understand the complexities of its ecosystem. "Explore to Restore" is Ms. Cripe's classroom storyline. This, connected with the deep hope for her students, are two key ways that she brings faith into the science classroom.

Faith in Learning

Teachers bring learning to life using powerful teaching tools (Deep Hope, Storyline, Throughline, and Formative Learning Experiences) that connect students to God's bigger story and their role in it. Learn more about Faith in Learning at Minnehaha and our Transformational Learning.

"What truly distinguishes Minnehaha in the classroom is the teachers' emphasis on the development of the whole individual...I will always be grateful to have been part of such a special school." -Peter, '22
