Seven Questions: Eben

Eben is an eleventh grader at Minnehaha Academy and is in his twelfth year at the school. We asked him seven questions about himself and his time at the school.

1. What's your earliest memory from your time at MA?

   In 1^st grade, I struggled to learn how to tie my shoes. Ms. Guild showed me how to do "bunny ears" step by step, with the double knot being the cherry on top. I think that was one of the most exciting lessons in my life.

2. What is one moment at Minnehaha Academy you wish you could experience again?

   Ms. Quello asked us to present a cultural activity, food, or anything of Hispanic origin. My mom and I made sopapillas for my class, and they were an instant hit. For the next two weeks, we made them almost every day!

3. Who is someone at school who inspires you?

   Mr. Nathan Johnson helped me learn how to take a more critical and observant approach to things. There are many opportunities for 'aha' moments when working with him.

4. Is there anything people might not know about you?

   I've been surprised by the number of people who didn't know my full name is Ebenezer.

5. If you could see yourself in 20 years, what interesting job or adventure would you hope to be having?

   I imagine myself as a biomedical engineer, discussing with coworkers the tweaks we would need to make to a potentially revolutionary medical device.

6. How would you describe yourself in five words?

   Diligent, statistical, kind, happy-go-lucky, and worried—simultaneously

7. What's the best piece of advice you've received—and who gave it to you?

   I saw it online: "We can be bitter, or we can be better."
