Middle School French Students Earn National Recognition in Le Grand Concours

Minnehaha Academy Middle School French students have once again demonstrated excellence in Le Grand Concours, the National French Contest, earning state and national recognition for their language skills.

Le Grand Concours gives students the opportunity to compete with French students across the country through an exam that includes listening and reading components. This year, MA students in seventh and eighth grade earned multiple honors, including honorable mentions, silver medals, and a gold medal.

7th Grade Honors

With ten seventh grade students participating, three received national recognition:

• Addi Spencer
• Jack Keller

Silver Medal

• Ammayyu Gemeda — sixth in the nation and second in Minnesota

8th Grade Honors

With nine eighth grade students participating, five received national recognition:

Honorable Mention

• Linnea Ahwoi Larson
• Brandon Hess
• Ella Kennett

Silver Medal

• Benaiah Dotson — fourth in the nation and second in Minnesota

Gold Medal

• Yonaa Gemeda — second in the nation and first in Minnesota

Our three medalists also attended a special honor’s breakfast where they were recognized for their accomplishments.
