Challenge of the 100's Mentos Science Experiment
October 8, 2012
In the brisk fall air of Friday, October 5, one hundred bottles of Diet Coke and numerous rolls of Mentos arrived on the front lawn of South Campus ready for the Mentos 100 Challenge. Lower and Middle School students, parents, teachers and support staff viewed and participated in the Challenge of the 100's science experiment showing the reaction between Mentos candies and Diet Coke. For the science-minded, the pores on the surface of the Mentos candies catalyze the release of carbon dioxide gas from the pop, causing a geyser of foam to erupt from the bottle...and erupting bottles of Diet Coke to celebrate our Centennial, why it's a good thing!
