After School Program - The Yellow Lounge

• Any Middle School student who wants to stay after school but is not in a supervised after school activity such as sports, drama, academic competitions or other activities
• Students who cannot be picked up by 3:15 p.m.
• Students in a program that begins later than 3:15 such as athletic practice or games or other school activities
• Students in school activities which end earlier than 6 p.m. so, kids would be waiting for pick-up longer than 15 minutes. There is a 15-minute grace period from the time a scheduled activity ends and when a student is picked up or must check in to The Yellow Lounge. If practice ends early, the "15 minute rule" will apply and parents will be billed for that day. In cases of activities that are canceled during the day, students will be required to check in to The Yellow Lounge if they are not picked up within 15-minutes of school dismissal

The hours of The Yellow Lounge are 3:15 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students will be expected to sign in at 3:15 with the MS after school staff. Middle School students are welcome to sign up for release days. Please see the section below on Release Days for more details.

Cost: Annual Rate $326
Unlimited use of Yellow Lounge for after school supervision for entire school year (does not include Release Days or Morning Care). Payment due by August 25, 2011.

Option 2
Cost: Annual Rate $347
Unlimited use of Yellow Lounge for after school supervision for entire school year (does not include Release Days or Morning Care). Payment cost after August 25, 2011.

Option 3
Cost: Trimester Rate $137
Unlimited use of Yellow Lounge for one trimester (does not include Release days or Morning Care).

Option 4
Cost: $116 per 10-Pack
10-visit ten packs allow10 visits per student at any time during the school year. This pack can be purchased as needed, is non-refundable and extras can be used the following year or transferred to a younger sibling.

Option 5 *NEW*
Cost: $125 per sport season
This option was designed with the student in mind who requires Yellow Lounge care during the sport season. This essentially follows the trimester breaks (i.e. 3 sports seasons total in the school year).You may register for 1 or more sport season packs as you need them.

Drop-In Visit
Cost: $16 per visit
Available in the event that a single visit is necessary.

The Yellow Lounge is an extension of the school day. Because of this we adhere to the same expectations and rules as the rest of the Academy. The Yellow Lounge will follow the MA listening/viewing policies and procedures about appropriate language, music, movies, and other media. The MS Internet/Computer Use policy is also enforced.

Students are expected to:

1. Show respect for God, themselves, other people and property.
2. Be responsible for themselves, their time and their materials.
3. Cooperate with others.
4. Use self-control.
5. Give their best effort.
6. Think and act positively.

Students will:

1. Not hurt people.
2. Follow staff directions.
3. Not abuse property or materials.
4. Walk quietly in the halls.
5. Dress and speak appropriately.
6. Behave in an appropriate manner.

We have zero tolerance for weapons or anything that can be construed as a weapon. We do not tolerate foul language, threatening language or harassment of any sort. Violation of this is grounds for dismissal.

Use of alcohol, tobacco and other chemical substances is prohibited on the Minnehaha Academy Campuses and at any event sanctioned by MA, including field trips. This applies to students and staff. Violation of this is grounds for dismissal.

Students under a disciplinary action by the MS will have the same restrictions on their behavior/attendance in the Yellow Lounge.

Rule infractions are dealt with on an individual basis. The student, parents, and Middle School administration will be involved in disciplinary issues in most cases.

MS students are welcome to register for Release Days, which are non-school, non-holiday days. The hours on Release Days are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the cost is $37/day. Depending on the number of students registered for each day, the students will either be with a staff member in The Yellow Lounge or will be combined with the Lower School Program, Fun-N-Friends. Please have your student read the signs posted in the entry as they arrive on a Release Day or ask a staff member in the YL/FNF office for updated information on where the MS students are. Pre-registration occurs approximately one month before each release day to determine whether or not it is open. You must provide two week's notice (10 business days) for cancellation/addition in order to receive full refund or avoid drop-in rate.
