Executive Assistant to the President - (full-time, 12-month per year position)

The executive assistant to the president supports and promotes the mission of Minnehaha Academy and supports Minnehaha Academy’s president and its Board of Trustees in their strategic leadership and management of the school. The executive assistant to the president of school provides administrative and operational support to the president and the Board of Trustees that is confidential, professional and timely. Possessing excellent organizational, writing, and editing skills and an ability to anticipate the needs of the president’s office, the executive assistant takes initiative to make the work of the president and board more efficient.

The executive assistant brings five or more years experience in supporting executive-level leaders and is able to work flexible hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends. Past experience in a private school environment or other non-profit is a plus.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Builds strong relationships with a broad constituent group including Board members, administration, parents, faculty, staff, students and vendors
  • Coordinates a wide variety of projects, activities and/or events for the president and the Board
  • Prepares schedules and makes arrangements for Board of Trustee and subcommittee meetings
  • Maintains board website, including documents, minutes, agendas, and resolutions for board and subcommittees and assists the chairs of the subcommittees as requested
  • Schedules calendar for the president and coordinates all meeting and travel arrangements
  • Screens and directs phone calls for the president and drafts, as appropriate, correspondences from the president’s office
  • Maintains and processes a wide variety of manual and electronic documents files and records, including the president’s office files and expense reports, for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with the day-to-day activities of the president’s office
  • Participates fully in the life of the school
  • Manages confidential situations with discretion, respect and sensitivity
  • Supports cyclical accreditation and strategic planning work and other special projects
  • Supports the Department of Human Resources in functions related to the president’s office
  • Monitors a variety of activities on behalf of the president and the Board of Trustees (e.g. procedures, policy statements, public relations issues, account balances, etc.) for the purpose of achieving goals and meeting target goals/dates
  • Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of providing or receiving information, recording minutes and supporting the needs of attendees
  • Prepares a wide variety of complex written materials for the purpose of communicating information, creating reports or other types of documentation
  • Responds to a wide variety of calls, concern and/or complaints, analyzes situations to define issues and draw conclusions for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the president’s office

Required Skills:

  • Ability to create and maintain a warm, welcoming and positive atmosphere in the president’s office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (impeccable grammar and punctuation), including editing and business telephone etiquette
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and keyboarding, and familiarity with PC and MAC environments
  • Superior technology skills, including use of social media tools
  • General knowledge of a working budget
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to details and superb follow-through

Minnehaha Academy is looking for a full-time Librarian/Media Specialist at our Lower & Middle School campus serving PreK through Grade 8.

Librarian/Media Specialist: (100%)

Qualifications include:

  • Previous Librarian and Media Specialist experience preferred
  • State licensure in Library Science or related field preferred
  • Excellent technology skills to ensure strong library and media arts facilities, materials, and services
  • Strong administrative skills relating to planning, budgeting, scheduling, training and coordinating volunteers
  • Aptitude for innovation and implementation of research-based best practices to engage and support students and teachers
  • Team player and desire to collaborate with teachers and Library / Media Center colleagues

Part-time Chinese Teacher: (one class at 17% of full-time)
This is a Middle School position to teach one class of introduction to Mandarin Chinese to seventh and eighth grade students for the 2014-2015 school year.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous Chinese teaching experience, preferably of Middle School aged students
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability to relate to Middle School students and deliver rigorous, high quality, engaging Chinese language instruction
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology tools for instruction and communication including ongoing use of an online learning management system
  • Commitment to the cultivation of positive relationships with students, parents & colleagues
  • Teaching license preferred

Minnehaha Academy's Extended Day Program has an immediate part-time opening available for a substitute.

Substitute Teacher – Extended Day Program: Our program is open Monday through Friday during the school year. The hours are 2:30 to 6 p.m. During school breaks there are also opportunities to work 4-6 hour shifts.

The Summer Program at Minnehaha Academy has the following immediate opening:

Music and Drama Specialist – Camp Minnehaha:
(25 hours per week, summer months as stated below)
Minnehaha Academy’s Camp Minnehaha Program has a Music & Drama specialist opening, (includes instruction for PreK-K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-8) throughout the summer from June 9 – August 15, 2014. Hours are 8 AM – 1 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications include:

  • Passion for working with children
  • Strong people skills to interact with the children, parents and staff
  • Minimum of one year experience working with children in a church, school or camp setting preferred
  • Ability to plan/implement age appropriate music and drama activities
