Upper School Principal

Minnehaha Academy is a Prek – 12th grade Christian school and a ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  Our mission is to provide a high quality education integrating Christian faith and learning. Our school is recognized for its excellence in education and commitment to the whole student including academics, athletics and the arts.  We are currently seeking a Principal to lead our Upper School with a student enrollment of 350 beginning  Summer, 2015.

The Upper School Principal reports to the School President and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Team members participate in collaborative discussions and decision making aligned with the School’s vision, and strategic objectives, providing insight and perspectives of their areas of oversight.  The Principal will reflect high professional standards, integrity, and a commitment to excellence within a Christian independent school environment.

Key responsibilities include effective communication with students, faculty, and parents and the development of positive relationships with all constituents; active participation in the overall leadership of the school including recruitment, admissions, and retention of students; leadership and management of the school; and supervision, evaluation, and development of Upper School faculty.

Qualifications include:

  • Masters degree or higher and school administrative licensure
  • Minimum of 5 years of school administrative experience
  • Knowledgeable of upper school characteristics and learning acquisition theories
  • Commitment to lead educational initiatives based on education research
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding teaching and learning best practices and fostering a strong Christian educational environment
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills to effectively lead faculty and staff
  • Strong communication skills to effectively connect with all constituents, including students, faculty, parents, Board members and administrative colleagues
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, planning and implementation of initiatives through collaborative leadership
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of technology as a tool to support high quality teaching and learning
  • Independent school knowledge and experience a plus

Director of Athletics and Facility Operations

The mission of the Minnehaha Academy Athletic Department is to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development and integrity for all athletes supported by a strong foundation of Christian values in partnership with parents. Similarly, the Facilities department is committed to enabling the Minnehaha community to work, play and learn in an environment that is conducive to achieving the mission of the school.

Reports to:

President of Minnehaha Academy, serves on the President’s senior leadership team, and is an ex-officio member of the Board Facilities Committee; also partners closely with the Upper School Principal around student activities and calendars.

This position is a 100% FTE, salaried role to be working a 12-month schedule and is responsible for Grades 6 – 12th Athletics.

Director of Athletics Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, monitor and supervise the athletic budgets encompassing a 6th – 12th grade program
  • Identifies needs, priorities and opportunities to direct the Booster Club and other Athletic initiatives to focus on the facilities, equipment and uniform needs of the athletic department
  • Oversee and administer all Minnesota State High School League guidelines
  • Participate in meetings with other conference athletic directors concerning league business
  • Recruit, select, hire and supervise all head coaches
  • Integrate spiritual development within the area of athletics
  • Participate in development of school calendar
  • Maintain accurate records on all teams
  • Effective communication to and across constituencies
  • Develop clear communication procedures with coaches, parents, and other constituents regarding the athletic facilities program

Facilities Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate use of athletic facilities, equipment and event management
  • Establish good use of equipment procedures and security
  • Oversee capital operation and maintenance of all physical plant and capital assets
  • Oversee capital improvements, construction and remodeling projects, capital equipment and furnishing acquisition in close partnership with the Director of Finance & Business Operations

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years as an Athletic Director of a high school
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in leadership of staff and facilities projects
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith with learning and life and to passionately promote the school mission
  • Finance experience preferred, past budget management required
  • Effective communication skills, written, verbal and technological

Minnehaha Academy is seeking a full-time Director of Admission and Enrollment to lead the Admission team at our school.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with supervisory experience

Lower School Spanish Teacher

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a full-time Spanish teacher in the Lower School, serving students in Preschool through Grade 5

Qualifications include:

  • Previous teaching experience; Spanish teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver rigorous curriculum across PreK through 5th Grade students
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly

Pre-K-K Teacher – Extended Day Program: Our program is open Monday through Friday during the school year. The hours for this position are 2:30pm to 6:00pm. During school breaks, there are also opportunities to work 4 to 6 hour shifts.
