Controller 

Minnehaha Academy is a Christian school and a ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America.  Our mission is to provide a high quality education integrating faith and learning.

Minnehaha Academy is seeking a full-time Controller within the Finance Department of our school.

Qualifications include:

The Controller will be responsible for accounting and business office functions at Minnehaha Academy and will report directly to the Chief Operating & Financial Officer. This role will include frequent interaction with school faculty and staff and managing the Business Office team. The Controller will also have direct responsibility for the general ledger and the provision of information to Minnehaha Academy’s CPA firm in connection with the annual audit.

Controller – Primary Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for general ledger.
  • Compile nonprofit financial statements in compliance with GAAP on a quarterly basis.
  • Manage operating cash including cash flow projections and funds transfer.
  • Oversee handling of accounts payable and cash receipts.
  • Provide financial reports, budget reports, analysis and forecasting.
  • Track endowment and restricted funds.
  • Manage school business office personnel and processes.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory and institutional reporting standards.
  • Support the payroll and benefit systems and HR budget reporting

Controller – Qualifications:

  • Accounting, business or finance degree and/or equivalent experience gained from at least 5 years of nonprofit accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to provide detailed, accurate, timely financial data.
  • Thorough understanding of nonprofit fund accounting
  • Cash management and budgeting experience for an organization with a $2m annual budget or greater
  • Experience in learning a variety of software applications, and highly proficient in excel
  • Demonstrated success in working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Impeccable record of integrity and the highest ethical standards
  • Attitude of continuous improvement and high-quality customer service
  • Supportive of the stated mission of Minnehaha Academy
  • Must submit to a criminal background check and a credit check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA with nonprofit experience
  • Experience managing staff
  • Experience creating processes to comply with key audit concepts such as segregation of duties and internal controls.
  • Advanced financial analysis capability
  • Experience managing a complex budget of $10m or greater
  • Independent school accounting experience
  • Experience using senior systems software

Minnehaha Academy’s Admission Office has a full-time, 12-month opening:

Admission Counselor:

The role of Admission Counselor engages prospective parents and students to seek admission to our school, offering guidance and support throughout the entire admission process; coordinates tours, student visits and admission testing and plays a critical role in recruitment planning and execution with key constituents.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong relationship-building skills with superb follow-through
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective team player yet works well independently
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiar with utilization of social media
  • Past experience in admission and CRM preferred

Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Minnehaha Academy is a Christian school and a ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America.  Our mission is to provide a high quality education integrating faith and learning.

Our Middle School has a teaching position open to begin in August of the 2015-2016 school year. The position will be 75% – 100% of full-time, which is benefit eligible.

Qualifications include:

  • Successful teaching experience in middle school mathematics; experience with Singapore curriculum preferred
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge in mathematics; major in mathematics preferred
  • Demonstrated use of student-centered, data-driven instructional strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
  • Positive relationship building with students, parents and colleagues
  • State Licensure required
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith to learning and life

Middle School Choir Teacher

Minnehaha Academy is a Christian school and a ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America.  Our mission is to provide a high quality education integrating faith and learning.

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a Middle School Choir teacher for the 2015-2016 school year. The FTE (full-time equivalency) will be 50% of full-time.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous successful experience teaching and directing choirs in a Middle School setting
  • Ability to effectively engage and challenge Middle School students
  • Ability to develop and implement a strong vision for a comprehensive Middle School choral program
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families, including serving on a Middle School grade level team
  • Minnesota licensure in Choral Music and/or commensurate license from another state
  • Ability to integrate the Christian faith within the classroom

Kindergarten Teacher

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a full-time Kindergarten teacher in the Lower School for the 2015-2016 school-year, from August 2015 through June 2016.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous teaching experience; Kindergarten teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver rigorous curriculum across multiple content areas (e.g.; literacy, math, science, social studies)
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress, analyze student data, and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Minnesota K-6 teaching license or commensurate license from another state
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith to learning and life

  • Needs valid driver’s license in good standing for use of school vehicles
  • Needs own transportation given extended/flexible work hours during snow plowing season
