Substitute Teacher Application

Minnehaha Academy Middle School has an opening for a part-time long-term substitute teacher in the Middle School for the 2016-2017 school-year, from August 2016 through June 2017. The position is 56% of full-time.

Sacred Studies / Bible Teacher
Part-Time, Long-Term Substitute

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to effectively engage and challenge Middle School students
  • Ability to develop lessons and activities that promote dialogue and develop student skills to engage and understand Scripture
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families, including serving on a Middle School grade level team
  • Ability to integrate the Christian faith within the classroom
  • Seminary degree or Biblical Studies major preferred

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a Teaching Assistant for the 2016-2017 school year. The position is for 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Lower School Teaching Assistant

Qualifications include:

  • Previous successful experience working with elementary students and families
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage students, provide support in delivering rigorous curriculum, understand the developmental and academic needs of learners, and respond to the needs of individual students
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a critical support role
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a lead teacher in maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging environment for students
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith to learning and life
  • Minnesota teaching license or commensurate license from another state preferred

The Upper School has a full-time Mathematics teaching opening beginning the 2016-2017 school year. Coursework includes algebra, geometry, and pre-calc, with the potential to teach more advanced courses in future years. Position includes working in small learning teams through dedicated collaboration time, and advising a small group of students in our advisory program.

Mathematics: (Full-time)

Qualifications include:

  • Previous teaching experience in broad secondary math curriculum preferred
  • Ability to work with small teams to promote learning

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a Middle School Orchestra Teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. The FTE (full-time equivalency) will be 60%.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous successful experience teaching and directing in a Middle School setting
  • Ability to effectively engage and challenge Middle School students
  • Ability to develop and implement a strong vision for a comprehensive Middle School orchestra program

  • Oversight of all Boys’ Wrestling, Grades 7 – 12
  • Coaching varsity team

Music and Drama Specialist – Camp Minnehaha:
(25 hours per week, summer months as stated above)

  • Ability to plan/implement age appropriate music and drama activities
