Director of Marketing & Communications 

Minnehaha Academy is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications. This is a full time, year round position.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, and marketing skills
  • Ability to develop marketing and communications plan for the school
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to design, write and implement annual marketing/communication and PR plans to engage internal and external constituents
  • Expertise in various Social media platforms and web content management including WordPress
  • Experience with media relations and the strategic purchase and management of online, print, radio and tv advertising
  • Experience in design as well as oversight of design production
  • Effective team player with colleagues while able to work independently
  • Creative and confident problem solver with ability to partner with multiple departments and individuals
  • Goal-oriented with drive for results and meeting deadlines
  • 5+ years experience in marketing with tangible proven results

Controller 

Minnehaha Academy is seeking a full-time Controller within the Finance Department of our school.

Qualifications include:

The Controller will be responsible for accounting and business office functions at Minnehaha Academy and will report directly to the Chief Operating & Financial Officer. This role will include frequent interaction with school faculty and staff and managing the Business Office team. The Controller will also have direct responsibility for the general ledger and the provision of information to Minnehaha Academy’s CPA firm in connection with the annual audit.

Controller – Primary Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for general ledger.
  • Compile nonprofit financial statements in compliance with GAAP on a quarterly basis.
  • Manage operating cash including cash flow projections and funds transfer.
  • Oversee handling of accounts payable and cash receipts.
  • Provide financial reports, budget reports, analysis and forecasting.
  • Track endowment and restricted funds.
  • Manage school business office personnel and processes.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory and institutional reporting standards.
  • Support the payroll and benefit systems and HR budget reporting

Controller – Qualifications:

  • Accounting, business or finance degree and/or equivalent experience gained from at least 5 years of nonprofit accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to provide detailed, accurate, timely financial data.
  • Thorough understanding of nonprofit fund accounting
  • Cash management and budgeting experience for an organization with a $2m annual budget or greater
  • Experience in learning a variety of software applications, and highly proficient in excel
  • Demonstrated success in working both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Impeccable record of integrity and the highest ethical standards
  • Attitude of continuous improvement and high-quality customer service

  • Must submit to a criminal background check and a credit check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA with nonprofit experience
  • Experience managing staff
  • Experience creating processes to comply with key audit concepts such as segregation of duties and internal controls.
  • Advanced financial analysis capability
  • Experience managing a complex budget of $10m or greater
  • Independent school accounting experience
  • Experience using senior systems software

Institutional Advancement Office Coordinator
(normal business hours 7:30 AM – 4 PM with some flexibility required)

The Institutional Advancement Office Coordinator supports the activities of the Advancement office (Admissions, Development, Marketing) by representing Minnehaha Academy through relationships with and assistance to prospective families, donors, alumni, parents, team members and volunteers. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks, serving both internal and external customers. This is a full-time, 12 month position, benefit eligible.

  • Discretion and confidentiality concerning records, issues, donors and personnel

Critical duties include:

  • Assist Admission counselors with campus visits
  • Compose, edit and publish correspondence for team members and coordinate mailings
  • Create applicant files and process acceptance packets
  • Track admissions information and create reports using Senior Systems
  • Manage donor information and records using Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge
  • Assist with special events: planning and execution

Position requirements:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, database management (experience in Senior Systems and Raiser’s Edge preferred), strong competencies in Microsoft Office and general computer skills, 5-7 years administrative assistant or related experience with Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Spanish Specialist – Camp Minnehaha: (20 hours per week, summer months as stated below)

Minnehaha Academy’s Camp Minnehaha Program has a Spanish specialist opening, (includes instruction for PreK-K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-8) throughout the summer from June 8 – August 14, 2015. Hours are 8 AM – 1 PM, Monday through Thursday.
