Substitute Teachers:

Minnehaha Academy seeks substitute teachers for the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools.

Math Specialist Long-Term Substitute Teacher

January-June 2020

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a Math Specialist from January 6 – June 2. This position is 80% of full time, Monday – Thursday, and serves students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. The Math Specialist will:

  • Work with individual students needing additional support and enrichment in math.
  • Serve on Lower School Student Support Team, using data to inform intervention and programming decisions, and host data and information sessions for classroom teachers.
  • Partner with classroom teachers to support math growth within the classroom.
  • Partner with families to communicate about resources and strategies to use at home.


  • Previous teaching experience; experience in Singapore math strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners in small groups and to quickly build rapport and trust
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Minnesota teaching license or commensurate license from another state; Reading license preferred
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith to learning and life

Night Custodian:

Minnehaha Academy has an immediate opening at either campus for a full-time OR part-time evening custodian:


  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Potential to work extra hours if needed at night or on week-end
  • Past cleaning experience preferred
  • Requires lifting/moving up to 75 pounds and hauling garbage, etc. up stairs or ramps
  • Ability to positively interact with students, parent, faculty and staff while taking pride in maintaining a clean facility

Bus Drivers – Part-Time

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a part-time Bus Driver with primary hours between 3pm – 9pm on week days and some Saturdays. Bus drivers will transport students between campuses, to other schools and possible field trips.

 Qualifications for the job include:

  • Appropriate licensure to operate a school bus
  • Previous experience driving bus preferred
  • Strong people skills to effectively interact with children, parents and staff
  • Knowledge of the Twin Cities area a plus

Extended Day Teacher

Our program is open Monday through Friday during the school year. The hours for this position are 2:45pm to 6:00pm. During school breaks, there are also opportunities to work 4 to 6 hour shifts.

 Qualifications for the job include:

  • Passion for working with children
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Strong people skills to interact with the children, parents, and staff
  • Prior experience working with children in a church, school, daycare, or camp setting preferred
  • Ability to plan and implement age appropriate activities
  • Support and implement the mission of the school and the Extended Day Program
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred

Admissions Coordinator

Minnehaha Academy’s Admission Office has a part-time role working half days from August – April. The role of the Admissions Coordinator is to create and/or support marketing strategies, to provide administrative support to the department, initiate and/or support strategies to increase enrollment through on-campus experiences, and to develop and/or implement communications to promote awareness in the community that leads to inquiries and ultimately the enrollment of new students.

 Qualifications for the job include:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills and able to build relationships quickly
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Event planning experience required. Sales experience preferred
  • Effective team player yet works well independently
  • Knowledge of Minnehaha Academy and the Covenant Church a plus
  • Able to support and promote the mission of Minnehaha Academy
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends with advance notice
