School Nurse – Substitute

Minnehaha Academy is seeking to create a short list of licensed nurses who would be available substitute for one day or a couple days at a time. The need is only during the school year and school days and the hours would be 8:15 – 3:30.

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Registered Nurse (RN); Licensed School Nurse (LSN) preferred
  • Experience working with Lower and Middle school students preferred
  • Able to build rapport and maintain confidentiality with students, parents, and faculty
  • Previous experience working in a school preferred

Admission Counselor

Minnehaha Academy’s Admission Office has a full-time, 12-month opening for an admissions counselor. This person serves prospective parents and students, offering guidance and support throughout the admission process. Coordinates tours and student visits and oversees testing.  Assists in planning events and attends all recruitment events on and off campus.

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to build strong relationships and superb follow-through skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective team player and works well independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience working with student records software and social media preferred.
  • Past experience in admission and/or sales desired

Chemistry Teacher

The Upper School has a Full-Time (100%) position open for a Chemistry/STEM teacher beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, with potential areas of responsibility including Chemistry (all chemistry in 10th grade), AP Chemistry, and leadership/support of STEM initiatives.  Additionally, as part of school-wide programming, leading an advisory and a Cultural Field Experience.  Note: We have one more year in our current facility before opening a new building with state-of-the-art science facilities in the fall of 2019.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous teaching and education experience with emphasis in Chemistry
  • Strong interest in building positive relationships with students and creating an environment of high expectations, support, and academic achievement
  • State Licensure or equivalent higher education required
  • Experience incorporating newer technology into a science classroom, especially with hands-on experimentation and online curriculum resources
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability and drive to collaborate and support the work of our science team and STEM programming, including support of our International Space Station project and Applied Research in Engineering foundation course.

French Teacher

The Upper School has Part-Time (80%) French opening beginning the 2018-2019 school year, teaching multiple levels of French.  Additional duties/opportunities include leading an advisory and a potential international Cultural Field Experience.  Note: We have one more year in our current temporary facility before opening a new, state-of-the-art facility in the fall of 2019.

Marketing Manager – (55% FTE; averaging 24 hrs. per week)

The Marketing and Communications Manager works directly with the Director of Marketing and Communications, within the broader Institutional Advancement department. Primary responsibility is to produce the Minnehaha Magazine 4 times per year, as well as assist with media relations, photography, and social media.  The Marketing and Communications Manager supports the Director of Marketing in various marketing and public relations projects throughout the year.

Qualifications for the job include:

  • 4-year degree in communications, media, or related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to evoke emotion through writing
  • Strong layout, typography, and editing skills in Adobe InDesign
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with InDesign, blogging platforms, social media platforms, Word, Google Docs, Keynote/PowerPoint, iMovie in an Apple OS
  • Proficient photographer – photography required at a variety of school-related activities and functions (classroom activities, homecoming, graduation, special events, etc.)
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to details and accuracy
  • Ability to work to deadline and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with students, parents, alumni, and colleagues
  • High level of confidentiality required

Social Studies Long-Term Substitute Teacher:

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a long-term substitute Social Studies teacher in the Middle School, for the 2018-2019 school year. This is a full-time position with benefits available.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous successful teaching experience; Middle School Social Studies teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Depth of knowledge of American History, Geography, Economics; History major preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver rigorous curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress, analyze student data, and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families

Summer Academy Tutor/Instructor:

Minnehaha Academy’s Summer Programs is in search of a Summer Academy Tutor/ Instructor to prepare lessons and tutor a small group of 5-6 students.  Tutors needed for grades 1-8. Summer Academy sessions are from 8 am – 12 pm Monday – Friday. There are three, two week sessions available: June 11-22, June 25-July 13 (no class the week of July 4) and July 16-27.

General qualifications for each position include:

  • Passion for working with children
  • Current teaching license, preferably in elementary school.
  • Strong people skills to interact with the children, parents, and staff
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to plan and implement academic content and focus on a student’s academic growth.

Summer Programs Basketball Coach:

Minnehaha Academy’s Summer Programs is in search of a Basketball Coach to prepare and teach two sessions of basketball camps. Camps will be July 30 – August 3 (3rd-5th grade) and August 6-10 (1st-2nd grade), both camps are 12:30 – 4:00 pm, and include one half hour of prep time each day.

General qualifications for the position include:

  • Passion for working and playing with children
  • Basketball experience, coaching preferred
  • Strong people skills to interact with the children, parents, and staff
  • Minimum of one year experience working with children in a church, school, or camp setting preferred
  • Ability to plan and implement age appropriate activities

Extended Day Staff:

Our program is open Monday through Friday during the school year.  The hours for this position are 2:45pm to 6:00pm for the 2017-2018 school year.  During school breaks, there are also opportunities to work 4 to 6 hour shifts.

The Upper School has a Full-Time (100%) position open for a Social Studies teacher beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, with potential areas of responsibility including US History, AP US History, and/or Econ/Gov.  Additionally, as part of school-wide programming, advise a small group of girls or boys and supervise/participate in a week-long Cultural Field Experience.  Note: We have one more year in our current facility before opening a new school building in the fall of 2019.

  • Previous teaching and education experience with emphasis in American History, with Economics preferred but not required
  • Strong interest in building positive relationships with students and creating an environment of high expectations, support, and academic achievement
