School Nurse – Substitute

Minnehaha Academy is seeking to create a short list of licensed nurses who would be available substitute for one day or a couple days at a time. The need is only during the school year and school days and the hours would be 8:15 – 3:30.

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Registered Nurse (RN); Licensed School Nurse (LSN) preferred
  • Experience working with Lower and Middle school students preferred
  • Able to build rapport and maintain confidentiality with students, parents, and faculty
  • Previous experience working in a school preferred
  • Ability to support Minnehaha Academy’s mission

Substitute Teachers:

Minnehaha Academy seeks substitute teachers for the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools.

Lower School Teaching Assistants:

Description:

  • Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, school days only. Hours are approximately 8:30-3:30.
  • Paid by the hour with approximately 6.5 hours of paid time daily, with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.
  • Wage will be determined based on education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a school required; preferred teaching license.

Purpose:

  • To work in partnership with grade level teachers, developing plans, implementing programs to meet the needs of individual learners, and to provide flexibility within the learning environment
  • To provide additional supervision across the Lower School

Primary Functions

  • Assist in literacy and math to support learner differences
  • Deliver and monitor daily Math Facts work, collect data
  • Meet with smaller math groups, per teacher request
  • Work in guided reading groups or literacy circles
  • Provide enriched literacy experiences
  • Assess students
  • Assist in preparation of lessons
  • Assess students using in-house testing and leveling systems
  • Facilitate small groups per teacher request
  • Assist in day-to-day classroom operations

Supervision Duties

All Teaching Assistants accompany their classes to lunch and recess. Additionally, all Teaching Assistants will be assigned additional duties throughout the school day. These will be divided among all the Teaching Assistants. Possible duty assignments include:

  • Bus Duty
  • Waiting Room Assistance
  • Pre-K Nap Time
  • Parking Lot Supervision

Director of Individual Giving:

Minnehaha Academy Office of Advancement is seeking a Director of Individual Giving. This is a 12-month, full time position.

Description:
The Director of Individual Giving will be responsible for managing a portfolio of donors who make annual gifts to support the mission of Minnehaha Academy.  The Director will be expected to minister to the needs of the donors and identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these very important ministry partners for Minnehaha Academy.  The Director will also coordinate the Annual Fund and be responsible for communicating about the Fund through the Minnehaha Magazine, social gatherings, school events and personal meetings. In addition, the Director will partner with the Director of Institutional Giving and Exec Dir of Institutional Advancement to manage a portfolio of campaign prospects.

 Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with three to five years successful experience in Individual gift fundraising or comparable sales experience
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of donors in order to develop relationships
  • Successful experience in developing in-depth cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Knowledge and endorsement of the school philosophy, beliefs, goals, and objectives and can enthusiastically articulate the quality of education at Minnehaha Academy
  • Interest in all aspects of Minnehaha’s ministry and a dedication to promoting the fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with others throughout the organization
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated record of completing assignments and reaching goals
  • A Christian lifestyle and a personal commitment to Christian education

Preschool Teacher:

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a Preschool teacher beginning in August 2018. The position is for 3 days per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous successful teaching experience with preschool students; experience in a nationally accredited preschool preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage preschool students and deliver rigorous curriculum using early childhood-specific pedagogy and best practices
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and engaging environment for preschool students
  • Understanding of and ability to comply with Minnesota Preschool licensure requirements
  • Minnesota teaching license or commensurate license from another state; Early Childhood license preferred
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith to learning and life

Elementary Teacher:

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a full-time elementary teacher in the Lower School for the 2018-2019 school-year, from August 2018 through June 2019.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous teaching experience
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver rigorous curriculum across multiple content areas (literacy, math, science, social studies)
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress, analyze student data, and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 teaching license or commensurate license from another state

Lower School Spanish- Long Term Sub:

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a long-term substitute position teaching full-time Spanish in the Lower School, serving students in Preschool through Grade 5. The position would begin on Monday, August 13, 2018, and finish on Friday, September 28, 2018.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous teaching experience; Spanish teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver rigorous curriculum across PreK through 5th Grade students
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Minnesota K-12 Spanish teaching license or commensurate license from another state
