Chinese Teaching Position

The Upper School has a Part-Time (60%) Chinese long-term substitute teaching position, with the potential of being permanent, to start the 2019-2020 school year.  This position would start on Monday, August 12th, and end on Friday, December 20th, with potential to finish the school year. This person will teach Chinese 1, Honors IV, and Honors V. There will also be an opportunity to participate on the world language department’s professional learning community team.  In July we will be moving into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility back on our old campus at 3100 West River Parkway, in Minneapolis.  Come and join us for this exciting time!

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
  • Previous teaching experience; secondary teaching license preferred
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and create an environment of high expectations, support, and academic achievement
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, and the ability to step into a new situation and organize learning for students.
  • There is flexibility to teach just 3 days per week, full-time.
  • Ability to relate the Christian faith to learning and life.

School Nurse (Substitute)

Minnehaha Academy is seeking to create a short list of licensed nurses who would be available substitute for one day or a couple days at a time. The need is only during the school year and school days and the hours would be 8:15 – 3:30.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN); Licensed School Nurse (LSN) preferred
  • Experience working with Lower and Middle school students preferred
  • Able to build rapport and maintain confidentiality with students, parents, and faculty
  • Previous experience working in a school preferred

Reading Specialist (Long-Term Substitute):

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a full-time Reading Specialist for a 12-week family leave between late September and late December. This position serves students in Kindergarten through 5thgrade.

Primary Functions:

  • Work with individual students identified as needing additional support in reading.
  • Serve on our Lower School Student Support Team, use data to inform intervention and programming decisions, and host data and information sessions for classroom teachers at the Lower School Data Days.
  • Partner with classroom teachers to support reading growth within the classroom.
  • Partner with families to communicate about school-based interventions as well as resources and strategies to use at home.

Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience; experience as a Reading Specialist strongly preferred; experience with Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention program
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners in small groups and to quickly build rapport and trust
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and families
  • Minnesota teaching license or commensurate license from another state; Reading license strongly preferred

Innovation Lab Specialist:

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a half-time Innovation Lab teacher in the Lower School, serving students in grades 3-5. Innovation Lab is a unique learning space where tenacious thinkers can combine their imagination and classroom resources to design innovative solutions to authentic problems, developing 21st Century thinking skills to meet the world’s changing demands.

This major units of study in this class are:

  • Digital Citizenship
  • Robotics
  • Design Thinking and Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience; STEM teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners and deliver rigorous curriculum for 3rd-5thgrade students

Teaching Assistant:

This Teaching Assistant works Monday – Friday, school days only. The hours are approximately 8:30-3:30.

Purpose:

  • To work in partnership with grade level teachers, developing plans and implementing programs to meet the needs of individual learners, and provide flexibility within the learning environment
  • To provide additional supervision across the Lower School

Primary Functions:

  • Provide support in literacy and math to support learner differences
  • Assess students
  • Meet with guided reading groups or literacy circles
  • Provide enriched literacy experiences
  • Deliver and monitor daily math facts work, collect data
  • Meet with smaller math groups, per teacher request
  • Assist in preparation of lessons
  • Assess students using in-house testing and leveling systems
  • Facilitate small groups per teacher request
  • Assist in day-to-day classroom operations

Supervision Duties:
Teaching Assistants are expected to accompany their classes to lunch and recess. Additionally, all Teaching Assistants are assigned additional duties throughout the school day.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in elementary education or related field (teaching licensure preferred but not required)
  • Passion for working with kids
  • Strong people skills to interact with children, parents and staff
  • Strong ability to be flexible and anticipate needs of students

Night Custodian (35 hrs/week):

Minnehaha Academy has an immediate opening at our Upper School Campus, 1345 Mendota Heights Rd., Mendota Heights, MN:

Qualifications:

  • Dependability (Monday – Friday, 3:00PM – 10PM)
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Potential to work extra hours if needed at night or on week-end
  • Past cleaning experience preferred
  • Requires lifting/moving up to 75 pounds and hauling garbage, etc. up stairs or ramps

Preschool Teaching Assistant:

Description:

  • This position is Monday-Friday; school days. The hours are approximately 10:00am-6:00pm daily
  • This is an hourly position, 7.50 hours of paid time and an unpaid 30-minute break

Purpose:

  • To work in partnership with grade level teachers, developing plans and implementing programs to meet the needs of individual learners, and provide flexibility within the learning environment
  • To provide additional supervision of students in the preschool program

Primary Functions:

  • Assist in preparation of lessons per teacher request
  • Assist in day-to-day classroom operations
  • Supervise preschool lunch, recess, and rest-time
  • Preschool Extended Day Program (During school breaks, opportunities to work 4 to 6 hour shifts.)
  • Provide administrative support to the Preschool Director and program
  • Maintain Preschool certification

Qualifications include:

  • Elementary Education or Early Childhood license required (or equivalent hours of experience)
  • Passion for working and playing with children

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a full-time Spanish teacher in the Lower School, serving students in PreK through Grade 5.

Office Manager

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a full-time Office Manager beginning immediately. This new position will be a critical role, supporting the Principal and the larger school community. The Office Manager will have broad responsibility, including:

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations
  • Facilitate communications from the Principal’s office
  • Coordinate and support special events for the Lower & Middle School
  • Manage Lower & Middle School budgets
  • Manage the Principal’s calendar, coordinating both internal and external meetings
  • Provide administrative support to the Principal including preparation for meetings, coordinating professional development, conference, etc.
  • Facilitate Lower & Middle School Crisis Management Team plans
  • Coordinate support to Lower & Middle School administrators

Donor Database Manager

Minnehaha Academy has an immediate opening for a Donor Database Manager within our Institutional Advancement Office.  This position includes full benefits including a generous tuition remission package.

This position is responsible for stewarding and administering all aspects of appropriate and accurate donor records as well as management and oversight of Raiser’s Edge to ensure data integrity, donor receipting and acknowledgement, queries, reporting and analysis. This individual communicates and represents these efforts to the advancement and business offices, other school areas, auditors and donors.  This position will also provide support for fundraising events and other department activities.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience using Raiser’s Edge NXT Web and Database views.
  • Proficiency in recurring and 3rd party gift entry 
  • Proficiency in letter Templates and Online Express
  • Proficiency in Prospect Tab and Researchpoint 
  • Raiser’s Edge Certification and experience with Importacular preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a comprehensive donor record program
  • Understanding of philanthropic giving guidelines and non-profit fund accounting procedures
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with ability to carefully proof and edit materials
  • Experience preparing donor information for Annual Reports
  • Ability to relate well and communicate effectively with constituencies, through written, telephonic and personal communication vehicles
  • Ability to work independently and actively participate within a team
