The Foundation for a Lifetime Capital Campaign

We've Come This Far by Faith...

Over the past two years, Minnehaha Academy has been active in our Foundation for a Lifetime capital campaign to renovate and improve the South Campus. In December 2008, we reached our goal of $10 million which brought the first phase of our campgain to a close. The new chapel construction and building improvements are complete. Many of you took part in the dedication last fall. It was a wonderful time of celebration to collectively give thanks to God for all he has done for Minnehaha.

Since South Campus opened its doors in 1981, three generations of students have experienced the fullness of our Lower School and Middle School programs – testimony to the dedication of our faithful faculty and the support of hundreds of loyal Minnehaha families. We are pleased that students, faculty and staff can now enjoy the renovated and remodeled facility for many more generations to come.

The Foundation for a Lifetime Capital Campaign opens a new and exciting chapter in the life of Minnehaha. Kathy Johnson, Director of Development, thanks our donors. "We are so thankful for the many people who have supported this campaign and the future of our students. We needed everyone's support to reach our goal. We are so thankful to God for his guidance and faithfulness throughout this campaign."

The next phase of the capital campaign, to renovate the Ice Arena is now well underway. Improvements to the Ice Arena are set to begin this spring. Because of an inadequate foundation, the west wall of the arena is showing stress fractures and, as a result, must be repaired as soon as possible. This work will begin in April or May, but an additional $200,000 is still needed to complete additional locker rooms, a weight room and a shooting gallery.

The remodeling of South Campus began in the spring of 2007. Through a comprehensive assessment process and strategic plan, five priorities were identified:

  • The addition of a 350-seat chapel
  • Renovating classrooms and modernizing mechanical systems
  • Solving traffic safety and parking problems
  • Updating the aging ice arena
  • Growing our endowment fund

These five priorities have positioned Minnehaha with an educational facility, academic environment, and student environment equal to the ideals of our founding mission.
