Helping Students with Special Needs

Minnehaha Academy holds its Christian emphasis and its desire for academic excellence as complementary goals. Our curriculum requires that students be motivated to work in a challenging academic atmosphere. Our faculty is committed to helping all students reach their greatest potential, and we embrace students with a wide range of academic abilities. Within the scope of available resources, we work with families to provide accommodations for students which help them compensate for their special academic needs in ways that enable them to fulfill the coursework required of all students.

The Director of Special Academic Services, Ms. Elaine Ekstedt, has an MEd in Special Education and consults with teachers, parents, administrators and the admissions department. In addition there is a part-time academic support person in the Lower School. A Learning Lab class is provided in grades 6-12.
